Mark Hunting is a solicitor-advocate specializing in corporate criminal and regulatory matters including both advisory and contentious matters relating to fraud, bribery and corruption, money laundering, financial and trade sanctions, export controls and financial institution trading regulations. He has significant experience advising on and conducting internal investigations and dealing with prosecutors and government bodies in external investigations.
Mark also has experience in relation to health and safety prosecutions and advisory matters, particularly in relation to oil and gas facilities and offshore operations.
As part of his non-contentious practice Mark regularly advises on compliance diligence in complex transactions, and on compliance programmes including policies, procedures, controls and training.
From June 2016 to May 2023, Mark was a member of the in-house legal team at bp PLC, serving as managing counsel – competition and regulatory compliance from July 2020 to June 2023. In that role, he advised the global bp group on all compliance, regulatory, investigations and enforcement matters.
Mark began his legal career in the London offices of two international law firms and served as a magistrate judge for North London from 2009 to 2019.
